Pool Update - Wednesday, June 23, 2010
To: Members of the Riverside Community Association
From: Board of Directors
Re: Pool Maintenance and Repair Issues
Date: June 24, 2010
The Riverside Community Association continues to experience problems with the community swimming pool. Earlier this year the Association entered into a pool management contract with an established pool management company. The contract included significant upgrades to the pump room and daily maintenance and testing.
That contract has now been terminated by the board for what we believe are significant failures of the pool management company to live up to the terms of its obligations. We have retained a different pool management company and an engineer and are working closely with the local government inspectors to resolve all the problems with the pool. One of the issues with which we are currently engaged is the “chalking” of the paint, causing the water to cloud.   Wake County requires the pool to be closed if this clouding prevents viewing the main drains.
Unfortunately the resolution may require us to close the pool on a periodic but very temporary basis to perform such work as is necessary to ensure a safe and healthy pool environment. While we are aware that the pool is a significant amenity for the community and is important to the members, our priority continues to be the safety of the community. We will give as much notice as possible regarding pool closings and re-openings. We are also pursuing legal remedies against the former pool management company.
We ask your patience as we resolve this matter.

2010 Pool Information - Friday, May 07, 2010

The pool is scheduled to open on Friday, May 21, 2010 and will close for daily operation on Monday, September 6, 2010. Please review the rules and regulations (available on Facilities Committee page) with your family. There will be an attendant on duty at scheduled times this year.

Pool attendants will be asking you to fill out an information sheet about your family to be kept in a database to ensure that pool cards are only being used by the proper individuals. Providing this information is mandatory and your pool access card will not be turned on nor will you be allowed access to the pool until this information has been provided. This will reduce the chances of lost or stolen cards being used improperly at the pool and provide pool personnel with important contact information in the event of an emergency. Forms can be filled out in advance at the pool facility May 15 and May 16 from 10:00AM and 4:00PM each day.

All cards without a completed 2010 Member Information Sheet will be deactivated Monday, May 17, 2010 and therefore will not provide access to tennis courts or pool.
